Qualcomm stole the spotlight at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona with the launch of the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Announced on March 1, this premium wearable SoC (like smartwatches, smart bands etc.) introduces the “Elite” branding to wearables for the first time.
It’s promising flagship-level performance, always-on personal AI, and extended battery life for next-gen smartwatches and AI gadgets.
Built on a cutting-edge 3nm process, the Snapdragon Wear Elite marks Qualcomm’s biggest leap in wearable silicon. It targets premium Wear OS devices from partners like Samsung, Google, and Motorola, with first commercial products expected in the coming months—potentially powering the Galaxy Watch 9 series and beyond.
The standout upgrade is the integrated Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, making this the world’s first Snapdragon wear elite platform with dedicated on-device AI acceleration.
It delivers up to 12 TOPS of AI performance and supports generative models with up to 2 billion parameters-all processed locally for privacy and speed.
Snapdragon Wear Elite – Highlights
CPU & Performance: A five-core big. LITTLE setup features one prime core at 2.1 GHz and four efficiency cores at 1.95 GHz. Qualcomm claims up to 5x single-core CPU gains over the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 2, translating to lightning-fast app launches, smoother multitasking, and quicker boot times.
Graphics Boost: The Adreno A622 GPU offers up to 7x faster performance, enabling richer visuals, fluid animations, and even light on-wrist gaming or AR experiences.
Battery & Efficiency: The 3nm node plus smart power management delivers up to 30% longer daily use and rapid charging (50% in just 10 minutes). Multi-day battery life becomes realistic even with always-on AI features.
Connectivity Suite: Qualcomm’s “hexa-connectivity” includes 5G RedCap, Wi-Fi 6 (with micro-power modes), Bluetooth 6.0, ultra-wideband (UWB), advanced GNSS, and NB-NTN satellite support for emergency messaging—ideal for off-grid adventures or urban reliability.
Samsung has confirmed it is pivoting from its internal Exynos architecture to utilize the Wear Elite globally for its upcoming flagship Galaxy Watch 9 series, ensuring consistency for its new premium fitness portfolio.
