Samsung is preparing to make one of its boldest moves yet in the smartphone industry with the upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that folds twice instead of once, creating a three‑panel design that transforms seamlessly between a compact phone and a full tablet. Scheduled for launch on December 5, 2025, the TriFold is already being described as a futuristic leap in mobile technology, blending portability with productivity in a way no other device has attempted before.
Design & Display
the Galaxy Z Fold, which hinges once, the Galaxy Z TriFold unfolds in two stages, revealing a 10‑inch AMOLED display that rivals tablets. The outer cover screen measures 6.5 inches, making it practical for everyday use, while the inner display offers a cinematic experience for entertainment, gaming, and multitasking.
The screens on the Galaxy Z TriFold are built for versatility and visibility. Peak brightness reaches 2,600 nits for the outer screen and 1,600 nits for the inner display, ensuring excellent readability even in bright sunlight. One of the most surprising aspects of the Galaxy Z TriFold is how thin Samsung has managed to make it. When opened, the device measures just 4.2mm thick, though it expands to 14mm when closed.
Camera
Photography is expected to be another standout feature. The camera setup includes a flagship 200MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a third unspecified camera. It supports 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K at 60fps. The device features two selfie cameras—one on the cover display and one on the foldable screen, both housed in punch-hole cutouts. Promises ultra‑high resolution shots, detailed zoom capabilities, and improved performance in low‑light conditions.
Performance
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset (3nm process) with an octa-core CPU reaching 4.6 GHz, the device comes with 16GB RAM and storage options of 512GB or 1TB. It runs on Android 16 and includes 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC.
A 5600mAh battery powers the device with 45W wired charging, 25W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging capabilities.
Availability
The launch strategy reflects Samsung’s cautious yet ambitious approach. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will debut in select regions including South Korea, China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, with reports suggesting only 20,000–30,000 units will be available initially. Pricing is expected to be around $3,000 (approximately ₹2.66 lakh in India).
Before Samsung’s December 5 launch, Huawei is set to unveil its Mate X7 on November 25, 2025. The Chinese tech giant isn’t holding back – their latest foldable boasts a slimmer design profile, impressive IP58/IP59 dust and water resistance that surpasses most competitors, and the powerful Kirin 9030 processor paired with up to 20GB of RAM.
